he is going to be cutting a cd soon. so i am doing some photos for him. i have been working on using the sun to back light my subject. well the sun really didn't come out until late evening, it was rainy and cloudy all day. the second shot is a little underexposed i made the mistake of setting the strobe to 1/2 power instead of full.

here is the second. i had to use a 430ex setup on a tripod. i really get better results with a big strobe, but we were on the levee, so had no electricity, because with 430 you really can't use a faster shutter than 200, bt after i get a 40d, i will buy a small generator that i can carry with me.

I think the first image would work well. The lighting color in the sky works better in that image. The 2nd image, the sky looks kinda flat.

Like the first picture, except I don't think for a CD cover seeing his cell phone really adds anything to the shot.

The trees in the back ground are a problem for me me. In the first one it looks like he is being impailed through the neck. And in the second one they are growing out of his head.

I like the idea in #2

If this is going to be for a CD cover you should see how they will look cropped to a square format
