I was asked to take pictures for a friend at her sister's wedding/reception in July. This will be at a Chinese Restaurant however. Anyways, can y'all give me some links/ideas on what are some good posing/composition ideas?

I'm coming mainly from the car show/bikini contest side of things and I know this is completely different.

Thanks!
Neil

Neil,

A little more information would be helpful:

1. Are you being paid?

2. Are you the primary photographer?

3. What gear do you have at your disposal for the shoot?

4. Unclear - is both the wedding and reception taking place at the Chineese Restaurant?

5. What time of day? Are you planning on doing posed shots at a different location or just within the restaurant?

6. What type of ceremony is it?

7. How big is the wedding party?

Neil,

A little more information would be helpful:

1. Are you being paid? Yes, don't laugh, but I am pushing for $300

2. Are you the primary photographer? I have been asked to take pics as they will probably have a REAL photographer (lol) at this restaurant where the reception will take place.

3. What gear do you have at your disposal for the shoot? Again, I'll have my canon d-rebel (yes d-rebel) 430 flash, i have a canon f1.8 50 lens, tamron f2.8 28-75 (forgot the actual reach) lens and the kit lense that came w/the camera.

4. Unclear - is both the wedding and reception taking place at the Chineese Restaurant? Restaurant is where the reception will be taking place.

5. What time of day? Are you planning on doing posed shots at a different location or just within the restaurant? Just within the restaurant from what I've been told. I'd say it's scheduled for a sunday, so probably mid-day.

6. What type of ceremony is it? CAn you elaborate on this question?

7. How big is the wedding party? No more than like 100 people i believe....

Most Chinese restaurants are pretty well lit and there is no ban on flashes. I guess the usual Chinese wedding reception stuff is going to happen--reception line, speeches, kissing games, tea ceremony, etc. Probably get posed shots in front of the "wedding" symbols. Capture all the bride's dress changes, food,...
