Hi all,

I've not shot a wedding for a while and here I was at a friends. I wasn't shooting as the pro as I was in the band at the church so just captures some in the evening.

Let me know what you think.

Mark

hi mark,

this is a very nice set of photos, i like them all, #6 is my favorite!! and here is why, you used 1/40 shutter with f5 and that gave you the chance to capture the ambient light in the background while the f5 was fast enough with the strobe to stop the action! , and your exposure on the subject is spot on! i love these types of photos! excellent work as usual my friend! also did you diffuse or bounce the strobe in any way?

Thanks all.

Bahadir, yep, I'm fortunate enough to shoot with a 1D mkIII and a 5D (oh and the 30D as backup). The 1D is a great tool but still really like working with the 5D as well.

John, yes I will never use direct flash unless there is nothing to bounce off in which case i will put an omni bounce on.

When shooting evening events I will always go for quite high ISO, slow shutter and flash to freeze and capture enough ambient to tell the story.

Thanks Musket, the next one will be in Egypt, again for friends rather than paid but as I've never seen an Egyptian wedding I can't wait. After that it is a paid one about 260 miles north in a beautiful location so again looking forward to that.
