Default My Grandson is 4!

I think he is having fun.

Canon 10D, removed red eye, cropped and added a little sharpness. My daughter thinks it is a great photo, but it is missing something. I am not sure what it is. What would make this photo better?

Default I would...

Straighten out the image rotation so the right-hand post is verticle & then crop straight down the center of the padded post to eliminate the stuff on the right myself. You could also make his socks sparkeling white & really wow his Mom.

Cute kid...is that a 18-wheeler truck shirt he's wearing?

Not sure I understand “image rotation so the right-hand post is vertical”. It looks vertical to me, am I missing something?

Clean socks on a 4 year old!!! Then everyone would know it was a fake photo!

Yes, he loves big trucks.

Thanks for you comments.

Default Look at

The wall on the right side of the image...it isn't vertical (nor the post too). They are leaning to the right going from the bottom to the top of the image (easier to see on the wall than the post). If you have PShop you can see this easily by using the marquee crop tool & just running a straight line from the top to bottom of the image...I'm sure Paint Shop Pro has the same thing.

Anyway, the junk on the right of the image isn't needed...for that matter, you could crop the image all the way to his left hand that is already out of the photo. It would give the image more balance (as in the rule of thirds) and make him more of the focal point.

Cropping it tighter, as Kalypso suggests, will also bring out his face and especially his eyes more (for the simple reason they'll take up more pixels relatively). I like his eyes and smile!

Is this better? Thanks for all comments.

Kalypso, I did try to clean his socks, but I could not get it to look good. I need more time with PS.
