My daughter comforting our Bullmastiff because he thinks a handyman outside the house is trying to break in. He's incredibly protective of our daughter. He even frightens me at times if he thinks I'm scolding her. 140 lbs of protection for an 11 year old daughter.

This image #4 is my favorite . Great in composition and pose as well.

The first 3 images have distracting background . All 5 images seem to suffer from lack of dynamic range. If you look at their histogram you would know that. The exif of the images have been striped . Likely you have some camera shake as well for slower shots - that is what I can speculate.

The branches at the left are more in focus than the subject.
The histogram is almost flat = lack of dynamic range.
