Default Opinions on photo and objects in photo

I'd appreciate comments on whether the microphone in the first photo detracts from the overall feeling. I removed it with PS in the second image.
Any other comments are welcomed also. I took this photo of my friend's daughter on her wedding day. I was not the 'hired' photographer though and this shot was being taken by her from a straight-on face perspective.

Thanks!
Jim

I agree, the second shot draws more attention to the bride

I third that. I'll also say that you did a good job removing it. Since I knew where it was from the original I looked for any signs of its existance... and couldn't find any!

I can honestly say the microphone added no value! Nice job removing it.

Great photo without the microphone.

You might want to remove the cable on the step.

When wondering about, what's good and what's bad in a shot, I think it is very important to ask one self, "what good is this for?". If you cant come up with an answer - remove the thing.

My opinion is - the one without the microphone is much better. More like a clean shot!

Thanks! I really appreciate all the opinions and comments on the quality of the removal. Obviously the consensus is 'less is more'.
I did consider removing the cable also, Chuck. I think I'll do that before printing it for my friend.
It's funny.... a few years ago my brothers and I had a darkroom to do film and print processing. It would take hours and many tries to get a print even close to what you wanted. Now with a 'digital darkroom' you can add or remove things, dodge and burn, and do all sorts of wonderful things in a fraction of the time.
Aint technology great! hehehe
