i really like the shadows, to me without the shadows it wouldnt be half as good, its as if the hard shadow is almost as imortant as the subject itself

I also find the shadows confusing. It's as though the shadows in the background have moved giving the shadow a shadow. Does that sound confusing, well that's how much the shadows confuse me...

I think the shadows really enhance the picture...even the cigarette smoke has a shadow. Check out old mystery or adventure, movies that were B+W from the 40's...this captures the mood IMO.

I agree with those who like the image and the shadows.

Interesting and unconventional take, and in my opinion it works.
