Default Emotive Portrait Photography

Hi guys,

I've been really getting into emotive types of portrait photography, i.e. those types of images wich really leave the viewer thinking about a photo.
It's quite hard to actually describe the effect, but if you do a google on photographers like Andrzej Dragan or Irving Penn you'll see what i mean.
Anyway, I've just finished working on this shot, which I must admit took ages in PP.

Big version HERE

Anyway, I'd really like you guys to study the photo and let me know what effect it has on you, i.e. what feelings it stimulates.

If your interested I've written a little bit about 'emotive' portraits over on my blog:

Imagespike

Cheers,

Matt

Powerful portrait, which came across very strong. Lots of moods and details to be looked at for a long time. Very good and sincere eye-contact showing mutual trust between the model and you. The model has lots of caracter for this type of portrait. I guess the very tight framing was on purpose?

I like it very much and aknowledge the professionalism in your work.

Well done!

I will tell ya what I see. Aside from a very good portrait that is well composed and with fantastic color...

I see a man who gets annoyed very easily. A man who spends too much time being angry..
Having taken many street portraits of real life situations, this is what I see in your powerful image...

Take a look at this page of my blog and scroll down a bit to see what I am talking about.

I guess you can tell a lot of stories about this man. The portrait, as all of yours is fantastic. But the crop on the head needs some more space.

Looks like the man has a story to tell...perhaps with a darkside...
