Default A New Protocol In Egypt

This is something completely new for me, not a sporting event, wedding, or anything normal. I was invited to document the events around the signing of a new protocol in Alexandria (the 2nd city of Egypt). The protocol is in relation to the education of children with learning/mental difficulties. Currently there is nothing in place for them in main stream schools, I mean nothing. They are taught (as well as possible) with the rest of the class. 30, 40+ children. This new protocol is going to enable one specialist into the class to assist the teacher with the children.

In attendance were the governor of Alexandria, Egypt's minister for education, the founder of the organisation Village of Hope (anyone interested can check it out http://www.alamalvillage.org/english/Stories.htm ) who headed up this initiative, representatives from the governor of Cairo as well as the heads of schools in Alexandria and Cairo etc etc..... oh and a Brit who had no clue what was really going on or being said, but I had a camera.

I hope that this makes a big difference to the lives of many young people and was please to play my part in the documentation of it.

Here is a small selection.

The meeting room

The founder of the Village of Hope

The Minister for Education

The Governor of Alexandria

Some parts were obviously funny

Some were boring

The signing

The exchange

The final result

Yes, took the words out of my mouth. A wonderful example of photojournalism. Thank you for the interesting story!

Great photography. What is most impressive to me is the various degrees of DOF. It really makes each scene work perfectly. Wonderful work.
