Default Taiko Drumming

Earlier today I saw a superb performance of Japanese Taiko Drumming by the Taiko Kozo ensemble of Japan. One of the featured performers was a young lady whose drumming style reminded me of Gene Krupa, the legendary drummer whose athletic and flamboyant style was a hit duirng the swing era.

selvin,

Great photos, radiating energy. Isn't energy what drumming is all about?

Great series selvin. I saw these picks in the biweekly forum and hadn't time to comment.

Very nice. I love the way you captured the emotion coming from her and the motion blur is fantastic! Nice series.

Torgny, Ordo, jgredline,
Thanks for your kind comments.
As you can imgaine, I took close to a hundred shots in difficult stage lighting conditions.
You're right I was able to capture some of the fire in her yeys as she materfully beat the drums. I took a few shots of them late in their performance and beads of perspiration are all over their faces from the effort they make.

Aloha
