Default Satisfaction

I stood by the beach at sandy and watched this kid having a glorious time yesterday. The expression he has after a successul ride is precious.

Here's the ride

and here's the look of satisfaction

Enjoy, comments welcome

Selvin, in the second photo, is the original larger? Did you crop at all? The reason I'm asking is because I think the boy would look better more to the right so there's a stretch of beach and water in front of him that he's walking into. Thus, there would be a sense of where he's going, of his goal.

I like the framing in the first photo--the diagonal created by the alternating foam and blue-green water. And you can sense the sheer joy of the boy.

Nice photos. I like the first photo because of the spraying water in front and around the surfer.

Barbara and Gibson,

Thanks for your suggestions and kind comments.
Barbara, there is no cropping. I definitely agree with your sugegstion that the boy should be placed more off center.

Although I could probably make a case for the boy to be more to the left since he was actually leaving his great ride on the wave. In any event placing him off center makes more sense.

You caught the wave nicely and the picture is sharp. I did not pay too much attention to the composition of the second pic,I just enjoyed the expression of satisfaction on the young surfers face.
