Default NYC Meat Market, people watching

It was a nice day to people watch at the Meat Market in Manhattan. The realtors like to clean up the name by calling it the meat packing district, but for true Manhattanites, it is still the Meat Market. It is one of the hottest, trendy and sheik area in NYC. Where everyone comes to be seen, the area is loaded with high end designer shops, hotels, bars and restaurants, but at the same time it is still a working Meat Market where most of the meat sold in the city are wholesaled out. Also it is the area where the food network studio are. So it is a very crazy mix depending on when you are there. I will start off with my favorite steak house in NYC sign, The Old Homestead.

All shots taken with the EPL-1 and panasonic 45-200mm

Love these "slice of life" images..it really conveys the spirit of the city! You're making me yearn for a visit to Manhattan...it has been many years!

Thanks Jehan,

I have gotten adventuresome, decided to try shooting different things lately. Started with aircrafts, and now just causal people photos.

i like this street set. i like that there is context in some shots and then goes down to more intimate shots.

the epl1 with the tele makes for a nice street kit

Thanks Hards,

Yeah, the lens is not that big as to tip people off that I was shooting a street set. And it was just nice to watch people and the hustle and bustle of the area.

It was strange as this again was something pretty new for me to shoot. Unlike most of the stuff I shot. There was no time to set up. You either had the lens pointed the right way and got the shot, or you missed it completely.
