Default Need help post processing photos

I have several very special photos that i want to post process in PS CS4. I plan to make them black and white but want to add more to them to clean them up.

Can anyone recommend some standard methods or techniques in PS to do?

What do the pictures look like? There are so many ways to do this and it is easy to get good and bad results. Do you have samples?

They are pictures of a newborn baby in a hospital room. We converted most of them to black and white. I did some google searches and found how to do a few things with the hue. I put a sephia filter on it. I guess i am looking how to soften the images and make them stand out.

I can send you one to see what you think. I dont want to post it online. Unfortunatly there is not a new addition. That is what makes these photos ever more special.
