Default NYC Session 73 Blues Dancing

I decided to mix things up a bit, some 6400iso, 3200iso at 1.4 and 1.8 and some flash shots, at a blues club this evening.

You're having way too much fun...way better than shooting airplanes!! Good pictures in tough lighting.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, I always find myself shooting in really tough lighting for some reason. But at least this time there was some ambient lighting that I did not need a flash for everything, so I did not white out to many shots. But I like shooting in low light for some silly reason.

Jelpee, yeah I love having fun. You only live once, so I try to maximize it

i like the shots that utilized flash minus the first one that went a litttle hot. the flash is something i haven't seen you utilize as much, and for those that appear to use flash really pop compared to the ambient shots. something i would keep doing, looks great

I agree with Dustin, the extra pop of the lighting supplied by the flash, the increased depth all say this is the way to go more often. The challenge is then when you have different situations to balance that light to keep it natural. It's all fun and games learning the different aspects of photography.

Do you dance as well or just enjoy the music?

Thanks Mark and Hards,

I am married, I grew two left feet now. No swing or blues dancing for me or I am not as talented as my brother in the dance department. Just regular dancing with my wife. Just enjoy listening the blues and swing music.

I tried really hard not to have the flash white out the shot. So I compensated heavily for it when setting it up. I generally do not like using a flash, but if I get it right, I like that I can stop down to a sharper point in the lens.

Also, I tried not to use it that much to avoid bothering the dancers.
