Default Darryl Strawberry at Bryant Park

Darryl Strawberry was at Bryant Park yesterday promoting his book.

Comments on my pp, cropping, composition, etc., are welcome. Only #1 is HDR. I shot RAW on all but didn't like how DPHDR processed most of them, especially the crowd's colored clothing.

Think this deserves at least one reply

#1 - I like the composition, shot through the crowd makes it more interesting than if you'd had a clear view.
#2 - The guy in the background spoils it for me. Would be very nice otherwise.
#3 - Not sure - it bugs me a bit that I can see they're all looking at something but I can't make out what it is from the shot so maybe a tighter zoom was needed unless this shot is more about the crowd than the interview although the red bag in the foreground is still distracting.

I also did a very gentle pseudoHDR on the final shot with my program (low detail, quality boost on, everything else default) which keeps the colours completely natural so might be closer to what you were aiming for:

Your comments are very useful and very constructive. I appreciate them a lot. Thank you also for creating the pseudo-HDR version. More details showed up so, yes, that was what I was aiming for.

I don't feel the need for a pseudoHDR in the last pick. All the info is there (the benefits of underexposing). Just need to adjust levels and do a gentle sharpness:
