Default US Air Force Academy Graduation

There's hardly a more thrilling, exciting, and meaningful graduation event in the US than at one of our Service Academies. Here's the USAFA graduation from 26 May. The excitement and pride in just amazing here. I hope I've captured some of that with these photos of cadets (now 2nd Lts) who also happened to be some of my students this year in class. (All pics with Canon 7D and either 70-200 F4 IS or Tokina 11-16mm F2.8)

Pick the one who was a star offensive lineman for the Air Force football team:

Makes me proud to be an American. Kind of like watching the Army-Navy game.

Wow - that first young lady could be a model for the Air Force.

I guess the guy on the far right is the football star.

Love the expressions of excitement in these photos - you captured it very well. The Tbird photos are okay too but not as much as the graduates.

One question I've always had - Do tehy all get there hats back after the toss? I assume they have their name inside.

Thanks so much for sharing, it is nice to see going into the Memorial Day weekend.

No, they don't get their hats back. They even usually put $20 bill or silver dollar in it as a gift to the kids who scramble to get them as souvenirs.

Love the first picture. I wish we had some like that in the Army, more people would join. HOOAH! (i know that's not air force) to all of them, and wonderful photos, you have captured that ceremony and their excitement beautifully.

It's always good to see smiling faces. Here there are tons. Great shots and great series. Thanks for cheering up my day and making me feel proud, too.
