Default Jack O' Lantern Fest

I had a lot of fun walking around and shooting a local pumpkin carving event.

I haven't carved a pumpkin in some time. I read recently a tip to cut the hole in the bottom. carve it like normal and when it's time to light-up, just place it over the candle. sounds good to me.

Thanks, glad everyone enjoyed the pictures as much as I did.

I was kind of surprised and happy that I didn't get any negative reactions while snapping pictures of strangers.
I even had a few turn towards me and smile for the camera : )
I'm guessing most of them saw the D90 with big wide angle lens and thought I was shooting for the local paper.

I'm positive the average joe/jane thinks something's up when they see a dslr. add a battery grip and flash and you're pro. in their eyes. i have an answer ready when i get asked "why?". I tell them it's for my blog. You and I know that means nothing, but it makes the questioner happy. sometimes i say it's an assignment from my continuing education class. the idea is to not make the subjects uneasy. (and i wouldn't have taken that picture of the girl showing her back tattoo).

I wish the back tattoo wasn't in the picture.
But I had to shoot it, just look at the girl so intent on her father carving.
My favorite part of people photos is capturing a moment of interaction like that.
