Thanks, and yeah I guess the shadow is kind of distracting. I only have 1 external flash so no matter what I do there will be a shadow. It is a bit distracting but at the same time it gives it sort of a cool effect I think.

Im just learning off camera flash also so I couldn't really tell u for sure it is a good shot though and it looks kinda cool with the shadow but I wonder if it'd look better without as much shadow

Haha guess you will have to try it. Best choice to eliminate shadows would be to get 2 externals. 1 flash gives shadow, and on camera looks washed out.

Photography = lots of money

I like the shadows. They're part of the picture's mood. But the crop is kind of extreme. May be a little more space around the guy can help. Just a little.

AH a great exposure but can I make a note here .... this will require to shots made to one shot... I have not done one but I know it will work... try taking a shot of the shadow (Full Shadow) off to the side.... then take another shot of the subject dont worry about making any shadow that will mean lighting all around of course to avoid this.... then layer the two shots together and viola one can be chasing their shadows... ....

And yes the crop is kind of extreme as we used the outdoor part of my fireplace as a backdrop. That is as wide as the fireplace.
