Default The Smithson Family - Mobile Studio

Last weekend I shot the winners of a competition we ran for a free in home shoot. As usual space wasn't brilliant but I still find people are more relaxed at home, especially if dealing with little ones. The problem with the limited room is some reflection off of the white background but that can't be helped.

I've been working on my colour correction as this has always been my weakest thing in PP so please let me know how you think I've done and what I might want to change.

All other advice really appreciated.

Mark I think these are stunning. Only nit pick I can find is that I hate to only see one eye. The hair of the mother is covering her right eye. The little girl is too cute. #1 and #3 are my favs.

The first two are especially great.

They are all up to your usual high standard, Mark.

Why did you decide to go white-seamless on all of them? Was that their request or was their house really bland or something? Not a criticism at all, just wondering. The processing on the eyes in #1 is pretty conspicuous but I think it's the kind of thing the parents will love. I had the space issue in a shoot last week for my photoblog. I had way overestimated the size of the subject's formal living room in my head and had to go much wider than I like to go on people but it came out all right. What focal length did you use on these?

Nice high key work here Mark. Curious as to what your portable studio consists of.

Thanks guys.

Brad, customers know with me they are getting white or black backgrounds, I usually mix it up but this family were happy with all high key. As for the eyes, I always make them pop and parents seem to go for it, that's the difference between family buying and photographers looking LOL. Space is a pain, in this place I was working in just over 3m of length. For focal length, the exif is there so you can check it out but I ranged from 50mm to 105mm.

John, my setup is very basic, Lastolite pop up background which is black as standard but has a white cover you can Velcro on. Lights are 2 x 580, one onto the background and the other shot through a 43" brolly. I will then use a reflector if needed on the other side. That's about it.
