On 11/11/11 at 11:11 a.m. I was at the Huntington Beach Pier where hundreds gathered to honor our USA veterans.

Sadly, we are losing about 850 WW II Vets every day. So, don't put off thanking the veterans you know or meet.

Very nice tribute to vets Walter. In Canada we honoured our vets today...Remembrance Day.

I understand that the average age for a Canadian WW ll Veteran is at this point...88 years of age. I would imagine the WW ll American Vet's average age, is about the same.

As you say...don't put off thanking them for their service. They are getting older.

Les, I also heard that the US WW II veteran's average age is 88. Also that there is only one survinging WW I vet, and SHE is 110.

I think our (Canadian) last WW 1 Vet died a year or two ago. Can't recall the age.

How time passes. When I was a young boy in the early '50's...I beleive there might of still been some U.S. Civil War vets still alive.
