ROFL!

Thanks for the compliment!

Ok... Using PS Elements

1) Selection Brush Tool
2) Mode MASK
3) Paint over the part you want to keep the color
4) Then Enhance
---> Adjust Color
---> Remove Color

HTH...

wow. that might be easier than the way I did it.

here are my steps.

1) add a second layer.
2) use the paint bucket and fill it in completely with white. you can choose any color but the white gives you the B&W look.
3) on the layers window go tot he drop down and choose "color" it's at the bottom.
4) this gives you the B&W, now just use the eraser and erase the part you want in color.

If you feel like getting yourself a present, Dale, get a Wacom graphics tablet, but keep that poor mouse just so you can pound on it. Personally, I prefer stomping on my mouse's tail. The mouse falls off its perch and makes a satisfying crashing sound.

At first, using a pen instead of a mouse feels odd, which is kind of odd in itself since we grow up using pens and pencils. Even so, using the pen and tablet for working on photos is completely natural. You won't know how easy it is to make selections or dodge/burn or any of the other things that require a light touch until you've used a Wacom.

About six months ago, I was very nearly disabled from using the mouse, well on my way to a really bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome. After staying away from the computer for a couple of weeks, I came back to it, moved the mouse and the keyboard out of the way, and put my Wacom down in front of me. I don't use the mouse anymore for anything. And my wrist has healed completely.

The only thing that requires getting used to is tapping the tablet with the pen instead of clicking a mouse button. If you have an opportunity to try one, you should. It'll sell itself to you. And don't go with any other brand. It should be a Wacom or nothing. I've tried the others, and they don't have the sensitivity.

I have a Wacom as well. Best way to get used to it, is to hide your mouse for 2 weeks.
