Really like that picture, the two types of lighting worked out great.

Thank you for taking a look.

I actually don't have any lighting gear so this photo was the result of some improvisation + post production work.

I utilized a table lamp and the arm of a reclining chair to tilt the lamp towards my face. I had my Pentax K-30 on a tripod (no swivel LCD so there was alot of trial and error.

The photo was taken in a fully lit room with 2-story windows in the middle of the day so it was quite bright. I used the lamp to help fool the metering and black out much of the background. Then darkened the rest in post. This allowed me to light exactly half of my face. I then processed the photo twice to give the effect of different lighting sources to the effect that I desired. I mirrored one image and utilized photoshop masking to reveal the second half. Positioning allowed me to closely match the true shape/size of my head (approximately).

Thanks for the insight on how you took the picture. Maybe that is my problem, I have too much lighting gear and not enough know-how. Again great looking picture my wife also really liked the picture.

I lack alot of know-how as well! It was a ton of trial, error, and worthless captures before I got what I was looking for!
