I took another look and it seemed that the color balance was a bit off. When corrected it by using the eyedropper tool on the white part of her dress, the red tones appeared a bit stronger. There also was just a bit of redeye, which I removed, then used a touch of gaussian blur on the whole picture, and then the sharpening brush on her eyes. Added a very slight softening spot filter.

Yes I can see that it can easily go overboard and change a persons appearance completely.
