Default Luau

My wife and I recently visited the beautiful island of Maui. During our trip we attended a wonderful Luau:

Cool, thanks for posting

We'll be going in August...
What other place would you recommend for shooting?

NHL - thanks for commenting. This was the Old Lahaina Luau. If you dive or snorkel there are some great opportunities for photos if you have an underwater camera. We took a tour through the rain forest - you can see some of it if you drive the road to Hana - but there are places you can't get to by yourself. And, in our case - it was worth it to get all the information from the guide about the different species of plant and history of the island. Haleakala was definitely worth the drive. We did it for sunrise but I'm told it's fabulous for sunset as well. The challenge there is the limited parking at the summit. For sunrise, the lot was full by 4:45 am - about 20 minutes after we got there. If you're there for a new moon I could imagine the star shots would be amazing.

#2 is by far my favourite of this set. Whether or not intended, the DOF naturally brings my eye to the dancer 2nd from the left. Or perhaps it's motion blur on the far right dancer. Either way, I love it!

John,

Thanks for the recommendation.
We did the entire loop road to Hana (including the off-roading return), but the most memorable part of Maui was: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/la...ml#post1393305

Default Hurricane

Glad both of you had a good time. NHL, you must have experienced the hurricane watch when you were here. Presently have three in the vicinity - so much for paradise, for now.
