Default ?? for Kalypso & et. al....

Kalypso,
Hi, I finally had some time to browse through your site. Although I saw many that were nice, I liked one pic in particular. I think close37clrd is the name...is this effect achieved through taking a b & w and adding color? I'm taking a ps class (elements only) and this is one of the techniques I want to learn how to do. Thanks!

Default You mean...

This?

It was my first time working with this model (who is one of the best, model & makeup artist, BTW)! I used PhotoShop to finish the image to my liking, created a duplicate image, desaturated it, blew it up huge (like 300%) & used the "erase" tool to "erase" the B&W off of the image on her lips, eyes & some of the background.

While not nearly on par with Kalypso's work...

Here's was my first attempt... I did it slightly different, not having really learned about layers yet... I used the paint tool in mask mode to select the flower and then did "remove color"...

Default Nice Job!

Either way works pretty well! I'm not sure of the limitations in Elements, but I'm sure there's a way!

Kalypso, that is one very stunning photo. Instantly, a song was being sung in my head to accompany it: "Lady in Red."

Good to know it can be done! John--when is your wife due again? Learn everything about digital manipulation now b/c when that baby comes you won't have time (for a while, anyway)!
