Ever tried to bite into a not quite ripe persimmon? You might make a face like this...

Come on Amy, you've never had the pleasure of eating a persimmon? It's a fruit which grows on persimmon trees (I bet you could have guessed that, right?). There are Asian persimmons and there are persimmons which grow on trees in places like Pennsylvania (so I'm sure monkey knows all about them).

They are a favorite treat of opossums. If they are ripe, they can be a favorite food for people too. They are just unbelievable tasting if you get the ripe ones. See if you can find them locally - you'll like them just so long as they are ripe!

(btw - I looked at your blogsite and because you said you'd "keel" anyone who visited but didn't sign the guestbook, I signed it. It's probably one of the craziest sites I've ever visited...)

That looks like what we call a shrron fruit here. Can we get a better picture of the fruit?

The ones we are getting now leave your teeth and gums feeling funny. Maybe they're not ripe.

Sorry, ferny, that it's not the same thing. I can't imagine what fruit you are talking about...
