Very nice portraits both of them.

For pic one:

Perhaps the girl should have been photographed, so that more of her body is seen. Just turned a bit! It looks like she's all upperbody...

I would have removed the small non-permanent spots in her face, but that's a matter of taste I guess.

Very good DOF and nice neutral colors.

For pic two:

Hmm, pose is good, but the placement in the exact middle is not working for me. The BW background is not working for me either. Why not just use a DOF like in pic one and no BW? I would prefer a more close-up shot instead.

Anyway - as I said - good ones both!!!

how do you convert the background to black and white? Is it done in photoshop??

Thanks for your input, good points. I didn't get the DOF I wanted on this shot even at F3.8. Here is a cropped version and I think you are right, it looks better.
