was down visiting the gf this weekend, and went to see this carnival in Wells on friday night... i don't think the shots are particualrly great, but was impressed with the bright colours andhow the camera coped (particulalrly as I accidentally left aperture value as f10 for most of nite!!! schoolboy error :-))

Very colourful, JJS. I can understand you being pleased with these.

Good shooting :-)

These are brilliant. I especially love the float with the Heyoka sign. I'm a fan of the carnival style lights. Did you use a tripod?

thanks :-)

Joshua, no it was handheld... I hada tripod with me but it was a bit crowded to use it... never got it out of the bag all night. Just used spot metering on the bright bits, ISO 320, and aperture priority at f10 (by accident)

I think the fact that there was loads of light coming off the float with smoke to give it a bit of texture in the air helped alot too... thats what seems to give the trees their silhouette.

Had a few other good ones that had camera shake ... if I hadn't had it at f10 all night i might have hadenough shutter speed to get a few more decent ones.

Here's a couple more...
