I took this picture of this artist in Tiberia and am looking for constructive criticism.

Thanks in advance!

Improvements would be sharper focus and cropping as below, IMHO.

It would have been nice to put more room in front of the artist, so that he is positioned in the right 1/3 of the photo. This would allow us to feel more of what it is like for him as he looks at the scenery. This would eliminate the distractions behind him.

Just my thoughts!

Thank you!

I appreciate your input.

Barry- I was using a canon powershot digital camera. is there a way to focus better with a camera like that?

Wisconsingirl- believe it or not the scene he was painting was nothing to beautiful, i probably should have got it in anyway because you are not the first person to tell me that!

Thank you so much for your comments. I really appreciate it.

<<<<<<<<< I was using a canon power shot digital camera. is there a way to focus better with a camera like that?>>>>>>>>>>.

are you pressing the button down to half way and waiting for the beep before taking the photo?. I know a lot of people who have tried to treat the digital prosumer cameras like a film camera and it does not work. I had a power shot G3 and used to have to wait a few seconds for the focus to adjust before taking a shot.

Aside from that, I'd have cropped in closer to see what the artist is painting:-)

Hey there, ILISCOOL! Good to see you out and about within Israel and posting pictures from there!!

I remember Tiberias well from my trip over there in October. It's situated in a beautiful location on the west shore of the Sea of Galilee. I do agree with the other people's comments. Up until 9 months or so ago I used to shoot with a Canon Powershot G2 and did get nice sharp images, but you do have to let the autofocus "happen" as it could be slow on occasion.

BTW, not to hijack your thread, but to show the area, here's a picture I took in October from across the Sea of Galilee. I was on the docks at Nof Ginosar when I took this night shot of Tiberias:

Thanks for the comments.

This is quite nice. However, the picture is out of focus, unless you wanted the picture to be like that.
