another peeple...Jessica Z in a black dress... My severe (and sincere) apology for getting carried away with the discussion about photo of the day, hope Jesse helped make up for it.

That's not a photo!

I actually likeTHAT shot, it shows talent and an eye for something different, they don't have to be a photo in the standard sense of the word and a digital image thats had a lot of artistic work is great, but it must be pleasing to the eye.

Loose threads can tighten in time, Kalypso :blah:

Now then! Your Jess (1)and KennethD's Jess (2)...in one frame...not that would be a Photo of the Day!!!

C'mon you digimeisters!!! C'mon you PS pros!

Let's see that image!!!

Alternatively, I could just invite J1 and J2 to Iowa...to rest gracefully in an Oak Tree here. Nope, it would not be barking up the wrong tree, IMHO! :blah:

I agree Julie. The overexposed sky and that haze on the right. I dont really like that picture very much.

I like the image as well. It's colourful, artistic, and appealing to the eye. But it's definitely not a photo. It's computer graphics/computer art.

yes but 99% of images are digitally enhanced so really itIS a photo to that degree. The difference is that we can see this one is art work butMANY photos that have made "photo of the day" would have had a bit of artistic flare applied but because we see for example, a landscape that looks wonderful we overlook that digital enhancement and see it as a photo.

What Im trying to say is that even back in the days when I used film, I used filters to change the reality of thesubject and i see this as no different to most of the digital images of today.

True...but a line needs to be drawn when it comes to what is way overboard in computer enhancements. In this case, the person is using full-on computer graphics morphing or whatever to create this visual display. It's not a photo. I wouldn't even pass it as a photo, let alone a photo of the day candidate. We may as well be looking at a 3D computer graphics display here.

ok guys...i have to clear things up...
the photo of the day of the 17th is in fact a photo...
it is done, by having waterdrops, on a mirror, with the flag at an angle to the camera...
i've seen it done..
there's a tutorial for it somewhere on the web...

lol, thought i'd clear that up
Vito

btw...i'm not loving the potd either...
