The fact that it's even perceived as a touchy issue is because of one person's rather persistent and prudish attempts at censorship. This ongoing American obsession with nudity and sex is immature and relatively ridiculous from a historic and world view.

We live in a country where a small percentage of judgmental individuals create furors over the sexuality of cartoon characters and often support war and violence while denouncing the human form and tolerance.
This site is about photography, which has always been about the human from in all aspects.

This ridiculous and ongoing argument about what our children are exposed to is simply a sham by people who's priorities are limited to religious prejudices (largely). Every young kid has kept his Playboy under the mattress and it hasn't corrupted or ruined our nation yet.

Sexuality and god forbid nudity is normal. Decrying it is abnormal.

I would be concerned over photos of guns and warfare as far as their impact on children, but would never think to ask for their removal, because I'm an American that actually respects the concept of freedom of expression.

Thank you Kalypso for your work here.

Seriously, I don't think kids would seek out porn in an amateur photography forum when there are a millionporn sites out there just a click away.

And, Kalypso: :-):-):-):-):-):-):-):-)

Kenny_Leong - my questionsfor you are:

What enticed you to enter this particularthread in the first place? Was it the fact that the word "nude" was listed? Was it that you felt a position on the soapbox was warranted to defend the voices who would not speak up against nudity on a website? Or was it simply to "stir the pot"? Are you afraid that you may need to have a discussion with your childrenabout sex and what a photograph like this means?

Kalypso, I am more offended by your couch than I am by the photograph (j/k)!

With all of that being said, I have taught my children that "4-letter" words only have value if we decide to give it a value - the "f" word means very little to someone in a non-English speaking society because they do not know what this invented word means and are therefore not offended by it if you were to say it in their presence (unless they have learned what it means). If you ignore it and pass it off as idiotic then you have devalued its original intention. However, a photograph is meant to tell a story that all who can see it understand. I do not see what the story is for the first picture and therefore do not give it much artistic merit (this is simply my opinion, someone elsewill something differently than I do, it is not wrong, it is just different), my ignoring of it has deflated its value. I do see more merit in the second photo, after all, it invokes more emotionally from me.

Kalypso, keep up the good work! Kenneth, lighten up, we only get one trip on this rock and that trip is too short to get in a tizzy over a picture. You really should pick which hill you want to die on as there are much larger hills (ahem...) to attack and this hill aint worth it.

but I digress.....
