well, there was a parade here today. unfortunately the rainy season is on and it didn't help the parade any.

the motorcycle club wanted to showcase themselves and so there they were.
out of all the shots of them i took. i liked this the best.

adjusted in levels and i decided i should put emphasis on the girl and her bike and instead of blurring the rest i just slight discolored them.

comments?

I like it! The bright colors of the girl and bike pulls my eye into the image like a magnet!

I like this shot. Though the rain may have put a damper on the parade, it created an excellent opportunity for this picture. Your editing is subtle enough that it works without our knowing what you have done to emphasize the subject.

Question: Why would they hold a parade during the rainy season?

VERY NICE.
Had to look 2 times before it struck me what was not correct.
Wonderful effect, very creative alternative to the too much used B&W and color.

thank you very much everyone. i really do appreciate your comments. still learning here bit by bit. even when taking pictures in the rain with one hand on the umbrella and one hald on the camera.

too bad the camera wasn't waterproof.

tom, as for your question.

Today marked the 61st anniversary of Guam's liberation from Japan in 1944. every year we honor those who've fought(living and dead) and along the way made up with japan.

so every we celebrate with many activities but the parade is what's become the staple. a way for everyone to celebrate in the open.

- will post more when i get around to editing almost 300 photos, whew!

Superb piece of work, berto!!!

The only thing I might humbly and respectfully suggest is a slight crop to enhance the "visual alliteration" of your fine photo. Two motorcyclists, one with rider out in the rain enjoying it all while the rest of humanity is hunkered down.

Attached is a suggested crop. Hope you do not mind!

Your subject has an incredibly radiant smile. Her smile plus her red jacket on a background of greys is AWESOME!

Yes! I like it, especially the tighter crop. It's raining, but she's out on her bike having fun and no rain is going to stop her. I've always loved dark hair and brown eyes, too, and what a smile! :?

I really like the color emphasis you did. I think it's a great effect paired with the rain. I know how to make the background B&W, but how do you do the slight discoloration?

digcam,
thanks for the crop. i didn't want to crop too tight on my original crop. i wanted to add some ambiance- haha, thinking all artsy.

jester, the thing with the girl. in photoshop i used the pen tool to make an outline around her. right click and made it my selection. right click again to feather my selection(experiment). ctrl-j to paste your selection to a new layer. then simply go back to the original photo(background) and press CTRL-U(hue/saturate) and play with the range.

here's a couple more

the white spot on her jeans and face are from the water spots on my camera lens.

asia's beast of burden. the carabao

here's a couple more photos from the parade yesterday. they're not in order though.
