Dont Fear the Reaper (with apologies to Blue Oyster Cult!). I didnt have to on this occasion as this lady was walking in the other direction. I didnt dare face her while she was carrying that thing! I had to heavily crop the photo to get rid of a shiny metal trailer just in front of her. It would have been better face on but there you go.

This is pretty nice. Too bad you couldn't include some more of her surroundings.

You didn't die after you photographed the Grim Reaper....? I like the first shot better.

I rather like both shots. The closeup detail in the first is nice and more aesthetically pleasing than the second one, but I also like the environmental aspect of the full photo.

I agree that in many cases, particularly if you're aiming at an artistic or aesthetically pleasing photo, that trailer would be really distracting. On the other hand, the full photo is a nice piece of photojournalism depicting the reality of this woman's life and environment.

What do you think of this crop? In this admittedly quick and dirty edit I tried to be a little bit artistic while retaining the documentary flavor of the photo.

Nice crop LadyhawkVA - yep that works well.

Dave - the photo was taken in a village called Vathia, which is right at the foot of the Mani Peninsular, almost at the southernmost tip of the European mainland, Greece
