Two of the shots are too dark.

They look a little tightly cropped.

Possibly the last shot is the best one, for some reason.

Basically, take far more shots from different angles, wider, closer, etc.

I don't think the drummer's expression necessarily translates, as your probably reading more into his expression than the viewer.

I guess I'm not really sure what the goal of your picture is? To show his expression?

If so I'd say thethird shot accomplished it, to some degree.

Thanks yeah I know two of them are very dark. The camera I use does not have a good flash to add extra light, and it is hard to get the drummer's pictures as he is genrlly further away.

It is hard for me to tell that he has no expression, but it is good to note that I am not picking up on what I see for others to see the same thing.

That is what I want to accomplish...to show the intensity of when he plays, and the "faces" he makes when he does, which shows his expressions.

I think I have cropped some as I was trying to only show the drummer and not the background.

I like #1. Bands are terribly difficult to photograph unless they're in a medium size venue with professional lighting. Even then....

You should change your name to LUCKIEGIRL...he's hot!

Hi Hokiegirl,

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Number 2 makes me laugh as it looks like he is swearing at you..... lol.

I have had a play with pic 3 to see what detail was hiding in there and below is what I came out with. I would be interested to see the result if you were not to use flash.... depending how dark it is then you might get some really interesting shots and possibly some more feeling (you don't know until you try). Doing this you might want to rest the camera on something to take any extra movement out of the shot.

I think that I might have gone a little OTT with how light this is, but can't tell as I am on my works laptop and it is not as well set up!!

Mark

Go for a cam with ISO3200.

Then get an F1.4 50mm lens
