Using a flashmeter is essential in getting perfect backgrounds which blow out.
I use f9.0 for the backgrounds and f8.0 for the model.

The backdrops are just plain seamless paper, nothing special.

How do you use two different apertures for the background and the foreground? Do you take 2 exposures?

It's not really exposures butit's called ratio's.

In other words for example the keylight is f8.0 the rimmlights are f7.1 and the hairlight is f5.6

The background is measured f9.0 because I want to blow that out to a pure white, meaning if the keylight is f8.0 the background which measures f9.0 will blow out to a pure white.

Greetings,
Frank

Excellent shots Frank! I assume that "f9.0 for the backgrounds and f8.0 for the model" are the values the light meter shows when you place it on these spots. If yes, what is the aperture you used on the camera?
