This is from the same trip as my last post - it is, in fact a composite of two images, one under and one over exposed. The highlights in the top r.h.s. are still somewhat blown out, and it's a little dark in a lot of the rest of the photo, but it looks a heck of a lot better than either of the two images it came from. I'm posting this partly because I was going through the photos I took and realised I had to with exactly the same framing, but one over, one under. It reminded me of what klfatcj said in his reply to my last post:
klfatcj wrote: "The water pics were taken at with two exposures - one long to get the smoothed out effect and one short to get the drops/stop action - and the layersblended. The overall effect made it look much more natural. Obviously, the smooth effect is the desired one at times. " ... so I thought I'd give it a try. Comments and critique very much welcomed. Best, -Ben |

i like it.. maybe open up the shadows a bit in photoshop and i think you will like it even more!
![]() but do it in a layer mask.. then unmask it in the sky so it evens out the exposure.. |

Thanks again, Dustin. I'm working on that now, and I'll post the results if I get a chance. I really appreciate your help.

I had a go at boosting the shadows, and took down the highlights a little too. I couldn't quite work out how to do it with the layer mask... not as PS literate as some!
Here's the 2 slightly different results I came up with; thanks again for the comments, and feel free to jump in (again). (I may have gone over the top with the editing? I don't know...) |

The composition is nice. The shot makes me want to go there.
