this is an almost.. you are definately on the right track here.. a little wider lens and shooting from a little higher perspective and it would have worked very nicely as some foreground interest for the shot of the water..

Also the horizon is wonky... a simple fix with Photoshop or other equivalent software. Other than that I really like this - maybe the subject is a little centered? Possibly place the interest in a third?

Thanks for this - didnt think of that - I actually bent low to take the photo rather than take from high - I was thinking the wood should be the focus of the picture. Are you saying that the focus probably should have been the bay and water, with the wood in the foreground to give interest? Wish I had thought of that Thanks Guy |

yes, so by making it a foreground interest, and then using the bay as a background or landscape interest you have made both of them a main subject in a way.. and also they will give each other perspective and give the shot more depth..
