I am very much a novice when it comes to photography. I have been playing around in Photoshop - boost contrast and levels - find edges then overlay or multiply - reduce levels. (see my post "Waffles" too. I'm not trying really to be arty, just trying to enhance what I feel would otherwise be a lack luster pic. I'm not sure whether it works though. Would really appreciate your comments . . .
Here's the original. |

I like this picture. We're interested in what the girl's doing. The skin on her face looks soft and smooth, just one of many textures and colors, and it's the one we're drawn to look at.
Thelight fixtureon the wall bothered me in the crop--too dominant, I feel. And I like the shine of the metal on the gate and what looks like a bell (?). I played around and offer my result as an alternative view. One result of this crop is a feeling that someone might be at the table, just out of our view. Good shot. |

Thanks for your comments and great edit. Where did that lamp go?
The "bell" thingy I think is some sort of flame lamp used at night. This was taken right by Winsdor Castle. Great place for photography. Humble regards-ISOS |

i would like to see in front of her, rather than behind her.. give me some idea of what she is writing.. like maybe include the table she is waiting on.. might give you a little more context and help balance out your picture a little..
just some things to look for.. -dustin |
