Any comments would be gratefully (and gracefully) accepted. Image taken with Konica-Minolta E323.

I dont normally like mirror images, but this one was cleverly done too fool the eye. One could not be blamed for thinking it was reflections off a pond at first sight.
It's better than the ones that are obviously done in photoshop |

Hi,
Looks a litle wishy-washy to me - maybe my monitor? Looks like it could help a lot with a contrast/saturation tweak... I do like the composition though - the framing with the darker trees at the left and right is spot on... Dom |

Apart from what DomCotton has said, I don't like the frame. But the shot has the potential to be a good one.

Thanks for your replies - I'm kind of encouraged that I'm not completely barking up the wrong tree... I agree about the frame - What on earth was I thinking? Not sure about the contrast/saturation comment though - I already have the saturation up almost to bursting point and when I fiddled with contrast I found it difficult to achieve a balance between making the image stand out, whilst retaining some texture in the tree-trunks. But that said, I guess in photography more than in anything else, it's all open to judgement and I can see that there might be something to be done there...
Thanks, all of you! |

Hi Shambles,
Made a quick edit - the problem was with the shadows - they were just too neutral. I played with the surves - made a very subtle "S". It is tough to see what the detail level would be like because it is such a small image however at this size I think it has some more "punch" to it. Dom |

Thanks for that, Dom. Despite my earlier reservations, I do think you have made your point. I'll have a play with the original image... And Matthew, thanks too. I'm not especially liking the huge frame either. And I have no idea why I put it there!
