Sorry folks. Seem this was uninteresting by the looks of things. So withdrawn with apologies.
Thanks folks for looking. My interest was to work with a dark background. Have never worked with it in such a concious manner. I think I like it. Sure the candle's perpective is a bit wonky. But how about the other photographic techniques. Appreciate your comments. Aperture value: 3.61 ISO: 200. Shutter speed: 1/15 Mode: manual Format: RAW Post processing: Yes. Jaki. |

I think technically its a good capture. Spot on exposure and the dark background works well. I was thinking that maybe if the candle was set back a bit or a wider crop.
Thanks for sharing Jaki. Keep posting. Syd |

Hi Jaki,
I love to play with photos of candles - somebody once mentioned to me to try using a filter - and I can't remember the name. It basically makes lots of sparkles on the image and looks great (from the shots that I saw). Hopefully somebody can step in and remind me of its name? I would say a slightly longer exposure to grab some more warmth from the flame. I even went up to 15 seconds on candles before! Dom |

Hey Jaki, you've got more than just one supporter. I like the shot as it is very clean and uncomplicated - could do with straightening up though, I think.

I like the texture of the candle. The light color and the flame work nicely against the dark background. As mentioned previously, rotate it a bit to straighten the candle and you've got a really nice image. Simple, but very nice.
