Hello all,

I took this pic last year with a point and shoot, and really don't know what to do with it. I've cropped, sharpened, adjusted levels etc .....but I just can't seem to get the balance right.

So here is the original all comments welcome advice and direction sought!

thanks in advance

Nice reflections & lovely still water. Your problem is thatyour subject (the boat) is lost against all the greenery which is exasperated by the green cover on it. The subject is also overwhelmed by the amount of foreground & background in the pic. You might like to try some selective colouring on this - ie maintain the boat colours and put the rest of the shot into Black & White and crop it more closely. Just my thoughts for what they are worth.

How about changing the colors of the boat with a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer? If you don't mind, I did a quick edit. Here it is.

this is my quick take on it. to me it seemed to have a greeny colour cast over the entire image. i tried to elliminate this. this took me about 60sec to complete this edit. so not really my proudest hour but i think it shows the direction i am thinking

just did a levels adjustment, notched up mid tone contrast, enhanced shadow and highlight detail, slightly increaed saturtion, and actually reduced sharpness.

nice shot btw

I was prepared to do some heavy selective color, but auto-levels cleaned up the color pretty well I thought. So all I did was a little tweaking in selective color, defogging and PTLens to take out the barrel distortion.

I would probably replace the sky. The contrails are distracting from the mood.

Thank you all, I'm a novice to photoshop and have found some good tutorials through this site so with time and practice I should improve. I think all of the edits improve the picture ...I know about barreldistortion but I don't know what PTLens is?

Thanks again for taking the time to help and offer advice.
