#10 - one of the internal walls; there are several layers of internal walls, sort of like how the city of Minas Tirith (in Lord of the Rings....) was guarded by various stages / levels of walls... so this photo is dedicated to all the die-hard LotR fans!)
This particular wall was at the utmost peak of the hill, at which stood a small building structure. |

#11 - this was a multipurpose structure built into one of the outside walls, including a hospital, lookout, shooting platform and and in the bottom (dungeon area built into the ground and lower wall) adark prison.

#12 - this photo is of the same original photo (portrait of the tree!), that is #1 (which I didn't number back then). From a different angle. Showing only blue sky and more of this crumbled section of wall.

#13 - one of the internal walls / gates. I liked that through it one could see down to another arch / gate below.

#14 - this is a cottage of about 200 years old (the gardener / guard now uses it for residence or a place to stay while he's on duty) - and the vegie plot / patch out front of it was being prepared. I guess parts of the internal fortress would have been cultivated like this in the past too...

OK it's bed time for me. I hope this series of uploading photos won't annoy anyone too much (as I do realise it's in the critiques and techniques section). I don't expect folk to analyse / critic every photo, but if you have any useful suggestions, I'm very open to them.
These photos were really made in a rush... as I only had about a 30 minute time slot to view this fortress as I had a meeting later that afternoon... but I did want to visit this fortress on a bright spring day. So perhaps this thread has become more of a history story or photo / history-journalism through a series of photos... but still the first photo served a critique/ technique function. Hope you all enjoy them, do give me your throughts / feedback, also about any interest in the history part of it. All the best.... Paul |

Good morning Syd,
Glad you could enjoy the photos and I appreciate your sacrificial nature of loosing :sleep:so that you could have a look at these photos. Work hard, sleep well and play hard! Indeed the wall in photo 10 has such a beautiful curve to it and seems to match the rolling hilly landscape well. Thanks to Photoshop's shadows and highlights tool I was able to recover the almost blown out sky still maintaining details in the foreground. And my friend was positioned well on the path to add an interesting focus / balance I thought... Paul |
