I like the shot - it has a real smoky jazz club feel to it, and wouldn't look at all out of place hung on the wall of a jazz club. The composition means that the flute dominates the scene, over and above the player's face. Maybe a slightly different angle to show more of the face would have been good - but then you lose the leading line of the flute.
The thing that bothered me most was the highlights on the flute from the camera's flash drew even more attention away from the player. As such I had a quick play with the clone stamp tool, along with a bit of a play with shadow/highlight in CS2.
