As I comment in my prior photo I like natural light and close up portrait. I know that some rules exits about how to do these photos, any critiques will be wellcome it.

By no means am I an expert but I find the eyes to be exceptional in this shot. Oneexception on the eyes is thatthere seems to be redness in her left eye that could use some software correction. The one strand of hair between her eyes is distracting to me and from my monitor in which I am viewing her hair on the right is a bit blurred and that there is alot of empty space which does not help with this being a "Wow" picture to me.
There also seems to be a bit of CA in her blurred hair and the edge of her jacket or sweater. She is a very beautiful girl and looks like a joy to work with in shooting these photos. Mahalo, Tom |

Better I think ... When you do close-ups like this, it opens another 'can of worms' in that the exceptional detail makes minor flaws much more noticeable than they would be if the same shot was a head & shoulders or something similar. Every hair in the wrong spot and every minor detail (red area below left eye) becomes a concern. I'm curious what Focal Length lens you used? You certainly have an outstanding subject!

Yep ... she's a jewel! Your others were good enough that the FL and Aperture are no surprise.

These are OK shots and certainly ones that you'll always be proud of. If you want to take your portraiture to a more professional looking level, then you need to clearly lead the viewer to the center of interest without distractions. The eyes should be the center of interest here.
The combination of clothing and lighting create a background distraction in the first image. The viewer is drawn to the brightest area in this scene. The white top in the second image is the big distraction. I agree with Tom that you should watch for details that normally do not stand out. Strands of hair across the face or eyes can be a terrible distraction for close-ups. Rodney |

IMHO you are on the right track. I agree the eyes capture the attention, and not at the expense of the other colors. In the first one, the brightness on the right side of thephoto issomewhat less than complimentary to my eye. Overall appeal is very positive...nice work. Best regards,
