The only difference in the two images is that one was sized down and sharpened. It really doesn't matter, Vito. I've either provided a visually effective image or I haven't. Even if there are blown highlights, there is no rule that says it is a no no. You are confusing bright white with blown highlights. Rodney |

The white halos give it an oversharpened look. I don't know if it is or if those are jpeg artifacts from downsizing. Only other criticism is the white signature on the yellow frame being a little hard on the eyes.

Rodney,
Great image with a perfect background. The only thing that bothers me slightly is the out of focus leaves in the forground. I would have been tempted to mash them down out of the frame. Gordon |

This is excellent and I do not see blown highlights or halos anywhere.
One minor thing for some but not me is the foreground blur of the leaf in front. The DOF rocks. I do see a gremlin in the background though. j/k |

Here is another presentation. I've sized this one a bit larger so more detail can be seen.

Rodney, at the risk of commenting too much on the frames versus the image, your first attempt was hard on my eyes. That bright yellow frame was just too much for me.
Edit... OK, I see what's going on. The colors in thelast photo seem more muted, because you changed the exposure. It's the highlights. I removed the borders so that they would not influence what I'm seeing, andcompared the images side by side. I prefer the first image's exposure (even if some of you think the highlights are too hot). The brighter highlights work better for me. |

Looking at both again, the firstyellow border did make the yellow in the flower stand out more, and the last version seems to make it more muted.I still think the yellow borderwas just a bit too much though.
Nobody else has commented on it, so I may be alone on this one (it's not uncommon for my tastes to be different). |
