Hello Jim,

The tonal values are much brighter in the image with the brighter border. Anything darker would have been a visual distraction.

For the second presentation, I darkened the tones so the brighter border would have been a distraction.

LOL -- I was typing at the same time you posted (editing my first post in this thread)...

I prefer the settings in the first image.

I removed the borders (so that they would not influence my judgement), viewed the images side by side, and I think the way you had the image to begin with is better (except the yellow border was a bit too much for me).
