I have several varieties and colors of this flower so I'll probably shoot all of them as they begin to flower. :-)
I shot this one in harsh natural evening light around 6pm. If I remember, I'll shoot the same scene today and use some fill flash. Rodney |

Hi Rodney;
I like the effect of the strong lighting here. It creates deep shadows clear textures that look vibrant and alive. I also like your choice of colours for the border. This is one area I wish I was more skilled with. I just don't trust my own judgement as to what colours compliment or distract from a presentation. (Was the selection made with the trusty "eyedropper" tool?) All in all, a very attractive image. Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada http://tomoverton.myphotoalbum.com |

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I select colors from within the scene for borders. I use the same colors when I mat prints. Rodney |

I love your work. If I'm ever brave enough too post in this forum I hope You'll look an advise.I'm just looking and learning now. But on this picture i do have a question. Where the stem and pedal meet there is a yellow line. If it was there it should be there of course. It does drew the eye to it. Or is it an artifact from PS? I can't look at my Iris because we had 17.5" of snow two weeks ago so the flowers are a little bit behind this year. Me too. I do think this is a great picture as are all of yours. dale |
