This is from two years ago and taken with a Sony F717. ( pre d reb xt ) The full pano has seven or eight pictures ( 30 sec exp ea.) in it but for this view i cut about 20% off the left because it had bad fit and seams. I cropped off 5 or 10 % on the right because it had a corner of my house in it and Dustin would have been on that like a fly on stink. The white lines are.... Oh come on... You know.
dale PS: No i didn't pump saturation. |

where do you live dale? to have such beuatiful aurora??
seriously, the colors are great. i may have cropped a bit off the bottom, but since it came from a pano, you may have needed that extra room for balance.. i think you could have boosted saturation a little too, its just a bit flat (hahaha, j/k) ----------- dustin www.hardwickphotos.com |

Thanks Dustin... It's not to saturated and dreamy is it??? Just kidding.
I live in North East Ohio. There is no doubt that it was 100 X better then any other Aurora I'd ever seen. To the eye of course it wasn't that deep of colorThe 30 sec. exporsure brought that out. But the longer i was outside the better it got as my eyes adjusted. But 40 minutes later it was gone. If anyone remembers that was the day Earth was hit by a massive solar storm. It temporally knocked out power in some areas and satellites in orbit. But it was pretty. dale PS: one comment... Hmmm. |

Maybe you're right Dustin... The reason I agree with you...( Which is always against my better judgment ) You are the only person to comment on it. Is there something wrong with it??? Hmmm. Maybe it doesn't have enoughnoise or an uncomfortable model in some awkward pose. Hey! While it's in edit again, maybe i should crop out all that funny red sky. I could lighten the picture and put in a phoney sun and call it a sunset. Or should i jack up the saturation ???? A LOT ! ! ! My trackball finger is twitch'n.

I think without the house and the motion streaks you would have a more pleasing image.

i was joking about the black and white conversion.. hehe.. but thats cool..
anyways, i think if you clone out the bright spot coming from the house, or heck, clone out the house in general.. then crop about 10% off the bottom.. i think that should help the picture out some.. at least it'd be worth trying.. ---------- dustin www.hardwickphotos.com |

Really nice colours Dale - er, um, er ....... what are the white streaks anyway? (They look suspiciously like the hair my Jack Russel terrier deposits on the couch:-))
Just been out trying to capture lightning (photographically and nearly literally) so I do appreciate the night shot - I've got a lot of practice still to doon that one. Steve |
