Unfortunately I'm camera-less until the big fella with the white beard and penchant for red clothes comes down my chimney, so I can't yet put composition advice into practice.
I'm playing around with old photos I took to satisfy my new 'fix' so please feel free to add your comments to this one. The original was much larger and in colour. I cropped to what I felt was 'pleasing', then desaturated, boosted contrast (too much?) and cloned out a couple of gulls that didn't follow the line these ones do. I know it's not a classic photo but just wondered what you thought / would do differently. Cheers |

Well it brought a smile to my face.... Its great.
Bit of a pity the middle gull is half in half out of the water - so to speak. I might be tempted to find a way to sort that out. This is distracting me from an otherwise very cool photo... original.... although an element of luck exists for these shot... you were there to take it.. right ? I think the conversion is very good...almost perfect.9 from 10. |

Thanks LBoy. I know what you mean, it was bothering me too. I've moved the gull to another post now and that's got rid of that problem. I'm just not sure it works because I've lost the line of gulls leading from left to right. Then again, maybe it does - I can't decide!

Yes, very cool! I love what you did with it. Now, if I could only learn myself photoshop at well. I really have to laugh at the bird. Too funny.
