Julie, I think you achieved that abstractness. I am glad you are experimenting with new ideas. That fact that folks don't say it does not mean you have not done it. Over the months, I have learnt that there are varied tastes as there are folks on this forum. That shouldn't dissuade you from trying new ideas. Regards. :| Jaki.

Julie,
I hope you didn't get the impression that I didn't like it, I did like it, but was just thinking out loud, and wondered what others thought or my "loud" thoughts. I certainly enjoy the pictures you post all the time, and am appreciative of the lessons generated from discussions of your pictures. Keep it coming. LT |

I love the colors and the idea is cool.
I'm wondering if it's not quite abstract enough. After all, the viewer can still tell that it's a flower. Therefore, one may bring certain preconceptions about "what flower photos ought to look like" to the image. This clearly doesn't fit that category so some may dismiss it as a failure, even though you clearly did not want just another flower photo. I think the photo you have here almost works, but not quite. I know you'll strike gold pretty soon. |

no worries LT7, i take no insult here. i was trying something a little different and wanted to share it here and see what everyone thought. i value the feedback i get here and respect the differing opinions. sometimes it's a matter of respecting differences in taste and sometimes gaining knowledge or perspective from the critique process. Ladyhawk- thank you for your thoughtful comment, this is where i think i get stuck with shots like this- somewhere in that grey area of abstraction and not. ....do you have any suggestions?

I couldn't make up my mind on this one. I tried a rotation that I think makes it a little more abstract. I could be wrong though.

i like it, the colours are superb and the 'out of focusness' makes you stare at it longer - an effect wanted by the photog methinks... good stuff, and as you said, doesnt appeal to all as seen by the comments
